SATURDAY MORNING

How do we live our lives as Jews? Each week, the Torah reveals its secrets as we turn it and turn it to find guidance for life’s big questions. Our interactive, exciting Torah study, guided by Rabbi Judith, has existed at MJC&S for more than 15 years, and each Saturday morning brings new discoveries. Whether you are a beginner or a Torah scholar, you will find new insights at MJC&S each Shabbat.

Let Cantor Marcelo’s music move you to praise and the insights of Rabbi Judith inspire the prayer of your heart through our weekly Shabbat morning service. Kol Haneshama, the Reconstructionist siddur, provides translations, transliterations, and interpretations that enable all of us to find our place in prayer.

SHACHARIT

9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

Join Rabbi HaLevy and Cantor Gindlin each Saturday morning as we celebrate the Shabbat with morning blessings, songs of praise (p’sukei d’zimra) and traditional Shabbat prayer.

TORAH STUDY

9:45 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Rabbi Judith HaLevy conducts an interactive, in-depth study of the Torah portion each week. No experience necessary – just a love of thoughtful and invigorating conversation based on the wisdom of Jewish text.

On Special days when there is a morning Bar/Bat mitzvah, Torah study will be held in the small sanctuary from 9-10:30, and the morning service in the main sanctuary from 10:30-1PM.

TORAH SERVICE AND KADDISH

11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

We conclude our Shabbat morning service with a Torah reading and aliyot, concluding Shabbat prayers and the recitation of Kaddish.
