Rabbi Carrie Benveniste

Rabbi Carrie Benveniste is the Director of Education and the Assistant Rabbi of MJC&S. She was ordained at the Zeigler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University here in Los Angeles.

Carrie began working in education during her undergraduate studies at California Polytechnic University where she participated in Americorps Service program. During Americorp she co-ran the Teen Academic Parenting Program, a program that mentored and educated teen parents in early childhood education and continuing high school education. 

Since then she taught in both after school religious school programs and day school programs. She was the director of a small congregational school in San Luis Obispo California as well as the co director of congregational school Venice. During her time as director of education she created a unique approach to the difficulties of running small religious schools. The Heder Program is now being used to assist and many different types of small communities.

Carrie brings her love of Judaism, creative spirit and commitment to quality Jewish education to the schools of MJC&S.
