Educating Our Children

It is our sincere belief that each child deserves a quality Jewish education filled with laughter and learning. It is our goal that our students share a joy in Judaism and a sense of mastery in their studies.

We have exceptional teachers and tutors as well, and Rabbi Judith HaLevy and Cantor Marcelo Gindlin are deeply involved in all of our programs on a daily basis—from Tot Shabbat and holidays, to visiting classes, leading special activities/discussions, to B'nai Mitzvah mentoring and much more.

Our schools are dedicated to creating fun, inspired, challenging, learning environments for all of our students - from toddlers through high school. We encourage a sense of belonging, and family and community activities are offered as well throughout the year. Our parent volunteers are core to the wonderful things we do. The PTA and Educational Committees are spirited and involved, and we invite each student's parents to join.

Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue Early Childhood Center accepts children 2-5 years old. School hours are from 9-2 Monday through Friday. We provide extended care from 2-4 pm. Our program brings together elements of Reggio, the outdoor classroom and Jewish life throughout the year.

Our Early Childhood Center uses developmentally appropriate practices to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment where children develop physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively and spiritually. Our program integrates an innovative curriculum with materials, experiences and teaching methods that are grounded in the principles of child development including age and individual appropriateness, within a rich Judaic environment. All learning activities are presented through play. These activities engage the children so they can explore experiment, imitate, ask questions and be questioned to further their thinking and problem solving skills. Indoor/outdoor classrooms provide a stimulating environment that meets the needs of the whole child.
