Our Pre-School has been serving the Malibu community since 1983
when we opened at Webster Elementary School. We accept children ages 2
- 6 years old and also offer Mommy & Me classes and a full array of
enrichment classes along with traditional learning.
Specialists in Early Childhood Education
Our staff of teachers specializes
in early childhood education and the State of California, as well as being
accredited by NAEYC and the Bureau of Jewish Education, licenses the school.
The curriculum is designed to meet the growing needs of young children and
carefully planned and flexible enough to take advantage of spontaneous
learning.
Judaism and Jewish Values
Our Judaic program includes music, holiday celebrations, customs,
traditions and learning of simple blessings. We celebrate "Tot
Shabbat" every Friday morning led by our own Cantor Marcelo Gindlin and
the joy of Shabbat rituals and music is shared by all. Rabbi Judith HaLevy
offers our children an enriched view of Judaism and Jewish values through
Bibliodrama and hands-on experiences.
Our Pre-School offers a warm, creative environment in an atmosphere where
each child's own unique style of learning is valued and nurtured. Each child
is encouraged to develop their own self-image and a positive feeling of self
worth in a stimulating environment. Children are encouraged to explore the
world, to learn, to be part of a group and work effectively with peers.
Teachers help the children handle frustrations and solve problems in
constructive ways.
A Partnership with Parents
We recognize that a close partnership between school and family must
exist to create healthy, happy children. Our school is a place where
parents, and the entire family, are integral parts of the educational
process. Through classroom participation, holiday celebrations, parent
education workshops and individual conferencing, parents and staff work
together. School and class newsletters inform parents regularly of upcoming
activities and ideas for parent-child development. The family becomes a
significant part of the larger and very special community of MJC&S.
