At first glance, my opponent didn’t look like much.

Dark, compact, weighing in at 30 kilos (Overweight for his class), he had a slight bulge at the front that perhaps belied his ability to roll with the punches. I didn’t give him much thought. In fact, I wasn’t thinking clearly at all, thanks to a 3AM wake up call for a   6AM flight out of Tel Aviv to Barcelona, via Prague, of all places. No amount of coffee seemed to clear my brain.

In March, I traveled to Poland as part of a Cantorial Mission as the first part of this musical journey which will culminate in July when 100 cantors and members of their congregations travel again to Poland and Israel.  What an honor it was for me to be asked to be part of this mission.
